Powerschool Data Breach Update Minnewaukan School was informed by the NDIT (North Dakota Information Technology) office that some records were affected by the Powerschool data breach. This breach impacted 95% of the schools in the state. We do not know what information or individuals this may have affected. The national Powerschool company is working through that process. If you have any questions regarding the Powerschool data breach, please contact the school. As a precaution, we recommend that parents and guardians reset their password. To reset your password, please utilize the following steps: 1. Go to www.minnewaukan.k12.nd.us 2. Click on POWERSCHOOL in the red boxes 3. Log into your Powerschool Account 4. On the left side, click on “Account Preferences” 5. From there, you will see the “Current Password” 6. Click on the pencil icon next to the stars 7. Enter your old password and create a new one in the boxes provided

The 7/8 GBB game scheduled for today vs. Ojibwe has been cancelled. Instead 7/8 girls will have practice at Four Winds.

Subject: Important Update: PowerSchool Vendor Data Breach Dear Parents and Guardians, TL;DR: A nationwide breach involving PowerSchool’s support portal has impacted some student and teacher data. Out of an abundance of caution, access to PowerSchool has been temporarily locked down as of 12:00 PM today for any user who is not connected to the state network, StageNet This means that access from outside the school network will be unavailable after this time. North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT) is working with PowerSchool and districts to evaluate the scope of the incident. We also recommend changing your PowerSchool password as a precaution. We want to provide you with the details of this incident and what steps are being taken to ensure the security of your information. What Happened: • On December 28, 2024, PowerSchool discovered unauthorized access to certain data in one of their customer support portals (PowerSource). • PowerSchool identified that only specific users whose information was marked in certain system configurations may have been affected. What’s Being Done: • PowerSchool has activated its cybersecurity response protocols and brought in third-party cybersecurity experts. • Access to the affected portal has been secured. • PowerSchool has confirmed there is no evidence of malware or ongoing unauthorized activity. Next Steps for Parents: • Change your PowerSchool password as a precaution. Create a strong password that you do not use for other accounts. • Monitor communications from your school for updates as additional information becomes available. • The next update on this incident will be sent out on January 17 by noon. There is an early out today, December 20th, at 1:00. All students will be dismissed at this time. School will resume on Monday, January 6th.

MPS will have virtual learning tomorrow, December 19th, due to weather conditions. High school students should check their Google Classrooms for assignments. Elementary students should complete their paper packets.

There will be no JH GBB and JH BBB practice today, December 18, 2024.

The Girls Basketball games scheduled tonight at FW High School has been postponed.

There will be NO 21st, Today, Dec 16 due to the roads and NO 21st Tomorrow, Dec 17 due to missing bus drivers.

School and buses will be one hour late on Monday, December 16th.

Busses will be dropping off students earlier than normal due to dismissing at 3:10 and limited amount of students riding the busses home.

My Empty Chair Assembly will be held on December 18th at 2:00 PM for students in grades 7-12. Family members and community members are welcome to attend this assembly if they wish.
